Newcastle boss Chris Hughton believes that Marseille's Hatem Ben Arfa can add a spark to his midfield.
The Premiership club is hoping to take Ben Arga on loan from Marseille, according to reports from the Guardian.However, the Ligue One side want Newcastle to fork out £1m, a price that the St James' Park club is unwilling to pay.
The Geordies have offered half that amount, and the two sides are still in negotiations.
The 23-year-old Frenchman can operate all over midfield, and is regarded as one of France's stars of the future.
